Yoichi Single Malt offers a captivating taste experience, with a nose revealing floral notes of iris and carnation, evolving into subtle aromas of candied citrus, sublimated by a light touch of saline peat. On the palate, its complex richness reveals fruity flavors of melon and kiwi, bewitching spices of pepper and nutmeg, and the distillery's signature peaty, smoky nuances. Its long, velvety finish leaves traces of ripe fruit and a delicate menthol freshness.

Yoichi Single Malt comes in an elegant box with two glasses by German crystal-maker Riedel, perfectly suited to spirits served with large ice cubes, thanks to straight walls that prevent them from jamming in the center of the glass, unlike traditional Old Fashioned glasses. The deep blue color of the box evokes the marine climate enjoyed by the distillery, founded in 1934 on the coast of Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island. Chosen for its similarities to the Scottish climate by Masataka Taketsuru, founder of the distillery, this privileged location is the cradle of Nikka whiskies produced using traditional methods such as direct toasting over coal fires.

This single malt, a blend of whiskies of varying ages, expresses a subtle balance of smoky, fruity and floral aromas, reflecting the philosophy inherited from the founding father. This boxed set celebrates not only the exceptional quality of the whisky, but also the authenticity and tradition that have shaped it.

The distillery

The distillery Yoichi

Located in the north of the archipelago, about 50 km west of the city of Sapporo on the island of Hokkaido, the Yoichi distillery was built in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of the Nikka brand.

The regional climate close to that of Scotland, as well as the presence of peat bogs and a very pure water source are the ideal conditions that Taketsuru was looking for in order to build his own distillery, the very first of his Nikka brand. The harsh winters where temperatures are mostly negative, the sea air and the use of peat for malting barley are at the origin of the strong, powerful and more or less peaty character of Yoichi whiskies.
