A collaboration between the 3S Super Shochu Spirits brand and Ohishi Distillery, this premium shōchū is unique in that it has been aged in wooden casks instead of kame the traditional clay jars.

3S Tokubetsu Gentei is a blend of shōchū aged 3 to 5 years, having been aged in sherry and brandy casks. Made with premium rice grown locally in the distillery's own rice fields, in this edition the focus is on umami which can be described as the fifth taste specific to Japanese gastronomy. Its aromatic profile, both soft and round, gives it a soft sensation on the palate, mixing woody aromas and cereal notes, of which rice is the main representative.

Founded in 1872 in the region of Kumamoto on the island of Kyushu, the Ohishi distillery is today managed by Kazunori Ohishi, the sixth generation. Heir to a long know-how, he benefits today from the boldness of his father who was the first Japanese in the early seventies to age his shōchū in wooden barrels, the vast majority of which are brandy, sherry, and more rarely mizunara and Japanese cherry barrels the famous sakura
