Sparkling and refreshing, Choya Ume Salute Sparkling is a Japanese plum liqueur called ume, made by the famous Japanese liqueur company Choya.
It is produced from the juice of the sun-ripened Kishu Nanko plum variety, mixed with Italian grape wine and sugar, and to create a sparkling drink the mixture is fermented using a traditional Japanese method. This liqueur has a pale golden color and a sweet and tart plum taste, with a slight effervescence that adds a pleasant fizzy texture. It also has a relatively low alcohol content, making it light and easy to drink.
Choya Ume Salute Sparkling is often served cold and can be consumed on its own with ice or as an ingredient in cocktails. It is especially popular in Japan during the summer months because of its coolness and lightness, but can be enjoyed year-round as an aperitif or dessert.
