The most famous Japanese liqueur in the world for decades, Midori has become a classic thanks to its highly recognizable emerald green color and intensely fruity melon taste.

This amazing fruit liqueur is made from 2 varieties of melons grown in Japan according to a carefully guarded recipe. Its aromatic profile expresses the specificities of each of the varieties used, the first one bringing a great freshness, and the second one a sweet and greedy side. The melons used to make Midori are harvested by hand before being brought to the distillery to extract the juice with all the aromas, sweetness and fruitiness they contain.

Created in 1978 by Suntory, it was designed by and for Japanese bartenders to allow them to make original, fresh and fruity cocktails, but also to revisit great classics such as the margarita or the caipirinha. Midori is also perfect with white spirits and fruit juices, but can also be enjoyed as a cocktail with lemonade, ice and a slice of lemon.

The brand

The brand Suntory Spirits

In addition to whisky, Suntory also produces gin and vodka at a dedicated site: the Liquor Atelier, located in the city of Osaka, the historical birthplace where the company was founded in 1899.

For Suntory, the history of spirits production began in 1923 with whisky and the founding of Yamazaki, the first malt distillery in Japan. With this accumulated know-how in the art of distillation, Shiji Torii, the founder of the company, started to produce other foreign spirits with Hermes gin in 1936, and Hermes vodka in 1956.
