Ichiro's Malt Wine Wood Reserve is a blended malt created by Ichiro Akuto, founder of the Chichibu distillery, which is partly composed from the last single malt casks of the now closed Hanyu distillery. This rare expression is therefore an atypical blend for two reasons.
The first one is that it is composed of a subtle mix of single malts from Chichibu and Hanyu distilleries, but also of single malts from Scotland. This makes it one of the rare whiskies that gives the possibility to taste whisky from the Hanyu distillery founded by Ichiro Akuto's grandfather and definitively closed.
The second reason is that all the whiskies in its composition have been aged in ex-red wine casks before being matured in Ovum barrels, which are French oak barrels made in Charentes by the "Meilleurs Ouvriers de France" of the Taransaud team.
Product limited to 1 bottles per order.

The brand Ichiro's Malt
Ichiro's Malt is a brand created in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, founder of the Chichibu distillery and Venture Whisky, the company in charge of marketing the brand.
Ichiro Akuto, having recovered the remaining casks of Hanyu, his grandfather's distillery, has shown his imagination by proposing a very varied range from young single malts from Chichibu to blended malts from Double Distilleries or exclusive bottlings of Hanyu's single malts.

Our tasting experience of Ichiro's Malt Wine Wood Reserve.
Ichiro's Malt Wine Wood Reserve has a rather sweet nose of red fruits, malt, tannins and a touch of oak. In the mouth it asserts its greedy character with sweet notes of cherry candy, pie crust and always the woody touch of oak. It leaves in final some aromas of licorice and tobacco mixed with notes of red fruits.
