In February 2015, Kirin Whisky released its Single Grain Whisky 25 year old Small Batch created from the blend of a small number of casks aged at least 25 years and whose grains whiskies they contained were all exclusively distilled the "bourbon style" with a continuous stills distillation followed by a second distillation in a kettle / doubler, as some distilleries of Kentucky.
The result is as rich and delicious than surprising and seductive, and was rewarded with a gold medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2015. This limited bottling represents the perfect balance between the Japanese craftmanship and the American technology.
The usual taste universe of grain whisky is shaken by an explosion of fruity sweet flavors of ripe bananas, plums and apricots in addition to typical corn syrupy flavors of Bourbon whiskies. The depth on the palate gained during a long aging period in American oak barrels brings some additional flavors of maple syrup, honey and cinnamon.
Bottled unchillfiltered at 46% ABV, Kirin Single Grain Small Batch 25 year old is an exceptional whiskyto be tasted at room temperature as a digestive, and preferably without ice in order to express its full potential.

The distillery Fuji Gotemba
Fuji Gotemba is a distillery founded in 1972 by the Kirin Group and located at the foot of the famous Mount Fuji, the brand's emblem.
The distillery is located at 610 meters above sea level, in a natural environment. The distillery has springs where the pure water has been filtered through layers of volcanic rocks for decades. At this altitude, the climate is rather cool with an average temperature of 13°C, and the high humidity throughout the year is ideal for maturing the whiskies.
