After having proposed a series of new borns, a lightly peated single malt and a very peated single malt, the Akkeshi distillery presents its new creation: the Akkeshi Blended Whisky Usui.

The very first blended whisky from the distillery located on the island of Hokkaido, Akkeshi Blended Whisky Usui is a blend of single malts distilled in Akkeshi and aged for at least three years and a complement of imported new make spirits but aged in Japan, with imported grain whiskies.

This blend is the second in the "24 Solar term series" which is inspired by the ancient Asian calendar where one year is divided into 24 solar seasons. Its harmonious and peaty profile reveals a rich and fruity nose with notes of citrus, raisins, but also cocoa and creamy cabbage. Reminiscent of a curacao on the palate, the citrus aromas intensify with notes of yellow and lime lemons and juicy oranges. On the finish, the milk chocolate sweetness blends with the spiciness of white pepper notes.

The distillery Akkeshi

Founded in 2013 by the Kenten Company, Akkeshi Distillery is sometimes referred to as the little Lagavulin for its similarities to the famous Scottish distillery.


Akkeshi is the second Japanese whisky distillery based on the island of Hokkaido after the famous Yoichi distillery of Nikka. Like its neighbor, it is inspired by the Scottish spirit with its pair of Forsyths traditional pot stills and the use of peated barley to produce single malts with a strong peaty character like those of Islay.
