Akkeshi Taisho Blended Whisky

As a blend of grains and peated malts from the Akkeshi distillery, aged in Mizunara oak casks from Hokkaido, this whisky thus offers a complete taste experience, combining peaty elements and citrus nuances, for a harmonious balance and a memorable tasting experience.

On the nose, there's a slightly smoky, incense-like peatiness and the citrus sweetness characteristic of Akkeshi whiskies. On the palate, it offers a perfect balance between tangy citrus notes such as orange and hassaku lemon, and more unexpected flavors reminiscent of sea breeze, salty soy sauce, lemongrass and sage. The finish is marked by a slight persistence of peat, enhanced by lemon zest and white pepper. This Japanese blended whisky is part of the "24 solar terms series", being the eighth in this collection. This series is inspired by the ancient Asian calendar, which divides a year into 24 solar seasons. Taisho, also known as "Great Heat", symbolizes the period when summer reaches its peak, stretching from late July to early August. During this period, the paulownia, a Japanese imperial tree, produces its first seeds, while humidity rises and intense rains can occur. Numerous summer festivals and fireworks displays are organized in different regions, where participants dress in yukata, a traditional lightweight garment. Taisho's indigo blue label evokes the emblematic colors of this summer kimono.
