This new Mars Whisky's single malt Komagatake Tsunuki Aging 2019 was distilled at the Shinshu distillery located in the heart of the Japanese Alps and nestled at 800 meters above sea level. The casks were later transferred for aging to Tsunuki at the southern tip of the country where Mars Whisky set up one of its 3 cellars.
Beyond this geographical particularity, this whisky is an blend of 3 types of casks : ex-bourbon, ex-sherry casks and casks which contained umeshu, a Japanese liqueur of ume the Japanese plum.
This expression is a blend of non peated and very peated malts giving a nose to cherry and green tea aromas, joined on the palate by gourmet notes of caramel, vanilla and red sugar. It is in the finish that the aromatic bouquet will reveal its peaty side with slightly smoky notes.
